Audit & Accounts Senior - £ Competitive - Middlesbrough
We have an excellent opportunity for a skilled and experienced Audit & Accounts Senior to become part of a thriving Chartered Accountancy firm known for its independence and forward-thinking approach. Your role will encompass executing statutory audits and preparing accounts for a diverse portfolio of dynamic and pioneering clients within our region. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology, your contributions will be amplified to optimise efficiency and elevate client satisfaction.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Prepare accounts using various client systems (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks Online).
* Conduct financial statement audits from planning to completion, overseeing onsite audit teams when required.
* Draft corporation tax computations.
* Address queries from accounts and tax managers on draft accounts and tax computations.
* Finalize accounts and corporation tax computations post-client meetings.
* Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding ad hoc queries.
* Provide training, guidance, and support to team members as needed.
* Actively participate in department meetings.
* Engage in relevant CPD to maintain technical knowledge.
* Propose updates and improvements to department and firm systems and processes.
* Travel to clients' premises primarily across the North-East and Yorkshire.
Requirements:
Essential:
* ACA or ACCA qualified.
* Proven experience in preparing accounts for small to medium businesses.
* Recent general practice background, with exposure to accounts, audit, and/or tax.
* Exceptional organisational skills.
* Demonstrated excellence in client service.
* Flexibility and proactive management of multiple priorities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in Excel and other IT tools.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Problem-solving initiative.
* Ability to travel to clients' premises as needed.
Desirable:
* Experience in or leading audits.
* Knowledge of accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks Online, Xero).
* Familiarity with clients' specialist sectors, charities, or the legal profession.
* Proficiency in Iris, Caseware, and MyWorkPapers.ACA/ACCA qualified with experience in delivering audits on UK GAAP statutory financial statements.
* Strong technical knowledge in accounts, audit, and/or tax within a general practice background.
* Experience in supervising or managing a team, demonstrating excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
* Proficient in IT skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, with a commitment to delivering excellent client service.
* Flexibility to manage multiple priorities and travel to clients' premises as required.
