About the job:
We have an exciting opportunity and our looking to recruit two Teaching Assistants for a Specialist School in Yate. We are looking for someone to support children with low to moderate SEN (Special Educational Needs), including ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), SLCN (Speech Language Communication Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional Mental Health). A typical day within the school for you will be to work in a group or in a 1:1 environment to provide tailored assistance to individuals which require specialist support through their educational health care plans. The school holds 136 children from KS1 to KS4, class sizes are small with up to 10 children per class and lots of support is available.
The school are looking for someone who has experience either professionally or personally supporting well-being and behavioural needs previously, as most of the pupils have come from a vulnerable background and could have multiple trauma-based difficulties that they struggle to cope with on a daily basis.
The ideal Teaching Assistant must:
Have strong behaviour management skills – a firm but fair approach
Be flexible and patient
Have experience working with vulnerable people, children or adults, who have challenging behaviour
Have a passion for supporting the most vulnerable children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
