The Role
The role of Business Support Officer forms a critical bridge between external stakeholders and our subject matter experts. Through this, you will gain exposure to a wide variety of aviation subject matter, both technical and operational. This is the perfect role for someone that has an interest or passion in aviation and who wants to be more involved with the workings of the industry as well as helping to ensure safe industrial practice.
As part of the Business Delivery team, this role will take part in area specific and department wide improvement projects. You will be empowered to identify improvements and implement best practice solutions wherever possible. As a result, we hope that this role will give whoever is successful a fantastic platform from which they can demonstrate their ability to deliver efficiencies and manage processes effectively.

About You
You should possess:
- An interest in and/or experience of working in an aviation environment would be advantageous
- A pleasant, courteous telephone manner and ability to research, assimilate and provide information is essential
- Education to GCSE or higher standard
- Proven time management skills including an ability to effectively prioritise in a busy environment to meet business needs and customer needs
- Methodical and organised with an eye for detail
- Keyboard skills for database entry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a variety of internal and external people, including people whose first language may not be English
- Produce good quality, accurate work to deadlines
- To work effectively in a small team, the post holder must be prepared to be cross-trained and share administrative tasks including routine administrative duties
- Proficient operator of Microsoft Word, Access 2000 and use Excel. To work to set formats or design suitable formats to suit the requirements of the task is essential
- Will and able to perform a variety of office functions (flexibility), demonstrating sound administrative skills and be able to switch form one task to another quickly
- Knowledge of SARG and GA or RPAS Unit department procedures would be desirable
- Experience working in a customer service environment would be beneficial
- Confidence to ask questions and seek resolutions
- Exercise tact and discretion regarding disclosure of information
- Ability to deal with difficult customers
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with a high degree of public contact
- Ability to think logically, and make decisions on a wide variety of cases, whilst applying good judgement around when to seek further advice

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
