We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our client’s central Finance team.

Located in the heart of the City in modern offices, close to all public transport and with parking, the role of Credit Controller involves managing day-to-day credit control activities, monitoring customer debt, and ensuring effective communication with internal colleagues and customers to resolve queries.
You will contribute to reporting and improving processes and play a key role in the ongoing development of the business.
Tasks will include, but not be limited to:
• Manage a portfolio of debtor accounts, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
• Post and allocate daily receipts to accounting systems.
• Provide accounts information to internal departments.
• Maintain detailed notes regarding debtors and ensure team leaders are informed.
• Resolve queries around outstanding invoices, liaising departments as required.
• Meet monthly processing deadlines and monitor payment terms.
• Review debtors regularly and follow up on extended or unauthorised credit terms.
• Escalate debtors failing to meet credit agreements and agree on payment plans for accounts in arrears, work with solicitors for legal action preparation.
• Perform credit checks on new customers and maintain accurate records.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships for close collaboration.
• Provide accurate and regular reports on debtors, including progress and potential risks.
• Assist and provide cover for the finance team as required.
For this crucial role we are interested in speaking to those with the following experience and attributes:
• A solid amount of recent credit control work experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve targets.
• Confident in using IT systems with good knowledge of Excel and Word.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships.
• Strong organisational skills for effective diary planning and time management.
• Analytical and data interpretation skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
• Pro-active approach to improving systems and processes.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Discretion and confidentiality in work.
Experience in a consultancy, legal or accounting firm would be an advantage but not essential.
