Our client a Student Accommodation is currently looking for a permanent Facilities Maintenance Assistant(Residence Assistant) to join their team across sites in Camberwell, Peckham, South East London to start ASAP
We are ideally looking for someone who has Maintenance experience carrying out general repairs with additional skill sets in plumbing - this might suit a candidate who has worked in a previous setting, maintenance operative, estates caretaker with handyman duties, school premises officer.
Duties and responsibilities of the Facilities Maintenance Assistant:
There are a variety of operational activities, so assistance could involve building inspections, proactive and reactive maintenance, first-line diagnostic maintenance checks, low-level repairs involving plumbing & carpentry, painting & decorating, and responding to outages or service failures.
- To undertake daily checks of premises (to include lighting, heating, fire extinguishers etc) against a set checklist, reporting the findings to the Residence Manager.
- To assist in several of maintenance/handyperson jobs.
- Monitor the maintenance reporting systems.
- To assist in the monitoring and managing of supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- To assist the Residence Manager with key tasks during the summer turnaround period, ensuring that the building is ready for the new residents at key times of year.
Person Specification for the Facilities Maintenance Assistant:
- Maintenance/ handyman skills - mainly in plumbing
- Need to be physically fit - this is 70% hands on maintenance
- Understanding of safeguarding
- Relevant experience
- Team player
- Good level of spoken and written English
Hours and salary for the Facilities Maintenance Assistant:
This is a shift rota position - rota's are planned in advance but MUST be willing to work between hours below and over weekends
- working 4 days on 2 days off over a 7 day week (includes weekend work)
- working hours between the hours 8am - 8pm working 8hrs per day (rota planned in advance - shifts usually 8 -4pm / 12 - 8pm)
- Starting salary of £28,813.00 per annum + benefits
