Finance Officer

We are currently recruiting for a Finance Officer to join a religious charity based in London. As Finance Officer you will be accounting for all payments and income, including legacies, given to projects and district assessment ensuring that all sums due have been duly received and accounted for.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Process supplier invoices including payment requests, committee and staff expenses on the accounting systems and ensure payments are made on time.
- Process donations, bank cheques, raise sales invoices and perform relevant credit control tasks.
- Process gift aid claims and provide support to Gift Aid Secretaries and ensure full compliance with HMRC.
- Answer customer and supplier queries about invoices and payments.
- Process all Central Finance Board (CFB), Trustees and other investment transactions, including distributions ensuring that income is correctly allocated to the relevant funds.
- Administer legacies within the Connexion to include review of bequest notifications, checking of wills and estate accounts and correspondence with solicitors and executors.
- Provide advice and information to other stakeholders on purchasing, procurement strategy, policy, and procedures.
- Prepare and process the weekly supplier payment run for the review by the Finance Manager.
- Prepare and post cashbook journals and bank reconciliations
Skills and experience required:
- AAT/CAT Qualified or equivalent OR Qualified by experience.
- Experience of working in a complex finance office environment
- Proven ability of performing balance sheet reconciliations and credit control
- Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills via call and email.
- Time management, organisational and multitasking capabilities.
- Competent in MS Office Packages and other software e.g., Word, Excel, reporting tool etc.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Basic VAT and gift aid.
