Financial Analyst

A quick look at the role.

This is a key role within the Fixed Asset & Leases team and will assist in all month end reporting tasks. This includes creation and disposal of lease liabilities and right of use assets in line with IFRS16, and reconciliation of all lease payments against liabilities. You will have responsibility for monitoring and resolving exception queries on the daily Power BI dashboard and business partnering with other finance teams across the business to ensure information is provided accurately and in a timely manner.

Your core responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial leasing schedules to achieve consistency in the reporting of group numbers and ensure that robust accurate and timely numbers are produced
• Take full responsibility for managing the leases exception dashboard, ensuring any discrepancies are rectified and root caused, driving timely query resolution.
• Assist in preparing and processing lease additions, disposals and monthly cash reconciliations and perform analytical reviews to explain the impact on the Group Financial statements both P&L and Balance Sheet
• Assist with any stakeholder engagement with regular and clear communications to ensure alldata collection needs are meet in an accurately and timely way. Ensure queries from other areas of the business are answered within the prescribed service level agreement timeframes.
• Work closely with Procurement and the Cash & Bank department ensuring all ongoing Supplier payment requests are set-up on Standing Orders or Direct Debits.
• Support the lease team on budgeting and forecasting to assess the future impact of the leases on lease liability, payments, depreciation and ROU asset projections. And ensure all key stakeholders are kept informed of changes.
• Assist the Lease team on delivery of current live projects and year-end audit requests.
• Provide assistance on Biffa's Transformation project and implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365. This could range from complex reconciliations, data cleanse and migration and testing of the new system.

Our essential requirements

• Part qualified accountant CIMA, ACCA or ACA
• Understanding of IRFS
• Strong system skills including advanced Excel and (preferably) Power BI
