Within GBM, HSBC Market & Securities Services (MSS) works with corporate and institutional clients where we provide a wide range of markets products via our specialist teams. We are currently seeking a professional to join our Digital & Data team as our Global Head of Model Management - This is a Director level role.
Role Overview: the role reports to the Head of AI and Model Management for Markets and Securities Services (MSS), and will manage a small team of that ensure that our model role holders maintain that policy requirements are met for models developed and used across MSS, and that any risks incurred from model use remain within appetite.

The role has a hybrid working pattern across working at home and HSBC offices at Canada Square, London. You must be able to work in London on a weekly basis.
In this role you will be expected to:

• Operate as the lead, key contact and subject matter expert for models developed and / or used in MSS (e.g. Capital Markets Product Pricing models, Algorithmic Trading models, Artificial Intelligence models, valuation models, market risk models) and model risk management globally.
• Directly lead a small team of regional model risk management leads that’s are based in multi-geographic locations and with some wider indirect management and be a trusted point of advice for modelling team members,
• Collaborate with other regional parties involved in Model Governance activities and key stakeholders from the business and other model risk management (e.g. 2LoD), and audit (3LoD);
• Ensure that all Model Governance and risk management requirements are satisfied for MSS models and model use cases which directly relate to HSBC's model risk policy and model risk standards, as well as any region-specific procedural or regulatory requirements
• Play a key role in driving the completion of activities required as part of any governance remediation work and drive the continual improvement of the bank’s model and AI risk management policies, procedures, and processes

To be successful you will demonstrate the following:

• Be in a senior Risk role that demonstrates and underpins your knowledge or Risk Governance, Compliance & Controls
• Significant knowledge and experience of regulatory requirements and industry-wide best practice relating to model risk management and governance, including AI
• Have an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Quantitative Analysts, model risk managers and model validators.
• Demonstrate collaborative, empathetic and decisive leadership capabilities, ideally you should have managed people in a multi-geographic setting.
• Have great stakeholder management skills and have the ability to collaborate, influence and engender confidence across all levels or interaction.
• It is desirable if you have experience of Global Markets and the specific financial instruments related to it.
