KAIKAKU:At KAIKAKU, we develop in-house robotics and automation solutions for the Food and Beverage sector. We do this through our own restaurant, Common Room. We are a VC backed startup, having raised $1.8m in just over 10 months. All of our robotics hardware and software has been designed and built in-house, and you could be a part of the next stage of our development.Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our team. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our in-house and open source software applications. You will work with a dynamic team of Software Engineers as well as Mechatronics, Robotics, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineers to develop a vast variety of software. This role involves working with a large range of languages, technologies, and project types, ensuring the delivery of scalable, robust, and efficient solutions tailored to the specific needs of interdisciplinary engineering projects.
Duties:
- Design, develop, and implement software applications using programming languages and frameworks such as Python, TypeScript, React Native, React, C++, etc.
- Collaborate with our restaurant to develop software to benefit the efficiency of operations, such as inventory tracking, customer facing apps, and data analysis tools.
- Work with the robotics hardware team to support them with the design and writing of automation software.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Conduct thorough testing of software applications.
- Collaborate with other engineers.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Crucially, be comfortable to work in a genuinely fast paced environment, handling multiple responsibilities in different areas of software.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, React / React Native, and C++ (or similar).
- Strong knowledge of software development principles and methodologies.
- Experience working with APIs and integrating third-party libraries.
- Familiarity with database concepts such as SQL, NoSQL, database design, etc.
- Knowledge of the Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (specifically Azure).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's (Master's preferred) degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Impressive personal projects, or a desire to undertake work outside of your job/degree.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
