Recruitment Hunters are recruiting an experienced Head of Business Development (Apprenticeships) for their HIGHER EDUCATION client based in West London.We are looking for an experienced professional from the Further or Higher Education sector (MUST). This role will be management of a team of Sales & Marketing professionals who focus on Apprenticeships for Higher Education Under/Post Graduates.

You will be leading the Business Development team within the Higher Education sector, being responsible for this ambitious new area of University strategy, driving income for the University through an expanding Apprenticeships and Continuing Education portfolio. Working directly with the Director of Business Development and Fundraising, the post holder will be expected to drive strategy to deliver KPIs for university-wide Apprenticeship recruitment, aligning our Apprenticeship portfolio with the needs of employers, public sector organisations and local and international needs and strategies. In addition, you will support corporate partnership development and initiatives with the Director. You will liaise with and support relevant academic and professional service teams and wider senior management within the University.

Key responsibilities will include employer and industry engagement, market analysis and management in support of Apprenticeships and other relevant University wide portfolios, ensuring account management and enrolment growth and income generation in line with the relevant policies and funding frameworks.

Key Purpose of the Role – Head of Business Development (Apprenticeships) (Management)

  • Embed and deliver the firm and wider University’s Business Development Strategy, driving significant enrolment growth and income generation across our expanding apprenticeship portfolio.
  • Deliver ambitious targets through effective sales and marketing activity with employers and industry stakeholders, maintaining accurate meeting pipeline reports.
  • Support employers and industry stakeholders with an understanding of the policies and funding frameworks underpinning the development of Apprenticeships, Higher Technical Qualifications and other School of Continuing Education portfolio development, including advice on optimising their Levy (as applicable).
  • Build and implement a meaningful account management process with new and existing employer & industry clients, responding quickly and professionally.
  • Monitor new markets and emerging trends with the effective use of Labour Market Information (LMI) and other intelligence.
  • Understand local labour market needs and economic growth plans by working in partnership with relevant external bodies and networks across South London and the wider region.
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with employers and industry stakeholders and the wider University’s Schools to ensure the Apprenticeship & the firms portfolio meets employer and industry needs.
  • Lead, working collaboratively as appropriate. to produce management reports and funding documentation including business cases, programme proposals, reviews, policies and procedures.
  • Identify and complete tenders to join marketplace frameworks and bids.
  • Identify opportunities for income generation through corporate partnerships and/or sponsorship.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the role are informed by a thorough and current understanding of the relevant policy, regulatory and quality assurance environment.
  • Understand and communicate external Apprenticeship regulatory requirement to employers, prior to and after the contract process to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead on the engagement of employers in the Ofsted inspection process.
  • Undertake any other requirements commensurate with the seniority of the post/as required by the Dean, Director of Business Development and Fundraising and/or Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and External Engagement).

Education and Skills – Head of Business Development (Apprenticeships)

Essential background and skills

Education

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (essential)

Experience

  • 3-5 Years Higher Education or Further Education Sector experience in Apprenticeships (MUST)
  • 3-5 years Management experience of a Sales team (MUST)
  • Thorough knowledge of policy, regulatory and QA – Higher Education and Degree apprenticeships (ESFA, Ofsted, QAA)
  • In-depth knowledge of higher and/or degree Apprenticeships and related industry led qualifications
  • Experience of writing bids and tender documents
  • Proven record of identifying, sourcing and developing New Business – HE

This is a permanent and a hybrid role, 3days office, 2days remote in West London. The salary will be between GBP54,000 – GBP56,500 DOE + 10% Bonus + Excellent Benefits.
