Job Description


Reporting directly to the Commercial Director at LGC Assure, the Head of Global Business Development and Sales for SF360 holds a key role in driving new business growth and fostering the expansion of the SF360 sector within the LGC Assure business unit.

As a pivotal senior leadership position within the commercial team, this role involves the strategic management and execution of plans aimed at achieving new Business Development objectives within the SF360 brand. The successful candidate will be tasked with formulating and implementing a clear and defined sales strategy.

This role demands a high level of Business acumen, requiring the ability to effectively lead and influence individuals and teams across diverse countries. Success in this position hinges on the candidate's capacity to achieve results through fostering teamwork and collaboration. It is imperative that the individual holding this role is based in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

To lead and inspire a team(hunters) to drive new Business Development growth in the SF360 sector. To have a mindset and focus on outbound lead sourcing, lead generation of prospecting with a detailed pipeline management. The goal being to aggressively win profitable new customers, market share and beat revenue goals in Business Development for SF360 and LGC Assure.

The candidate will develop and be accountable to execute the new Business Development strategy aligned with the LGC Assure overall goals and objectives. They will Identify new market opportunities and potential partnerships within the food supplements, certification and Informed sectors.

In collaboration with other Senior Commercial leaders within the LGC Group, and LGC Assure conduct market research to understand customer needs, competitive landscape, and industry trends and act on the trends when required.

They will identify and establish strategic partnerships and alliances with key stakeholders, including suppliers, distributors, retailers, and technology partners. Collaborate with these partners to drive new revenue growth, expand markets, and leverage complementary capabilities and resources.

To develop and implement new customer acquisition strategies to drive sales and revenue growth. Identify target customer segments and with Marketing teams develop targeted marketing and sales initiatives to reach these segments. Build and expand relationships with potential clients, conduct sales presentations, and with vigour negotiate deals to acquire new customers.

In conjunction with the account management team build and maintain strong relationships with those existing clients who have strong evidenced growth potential. Continuously engage with clients to understand their evolving needs, all documented within CRM and relevant plans to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Direct or be active in the conduct of ongoing market analysis to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and competitive intelligence. Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and product offerings to stay ahead in the market. Use this information to inform business strategies and product development initiatives.

Be relentless in the drive for revenue growth through various Business Development activities, including upselling and cross-selling to existing clients, exploring new market opportunities, and launching new products or services. Set revenue targets, monitor progress, and implement strategies to achieve or exceed these targets.

Take a leading position in the contract negotiations of all major prospect customers, partners, and suppliers. Ensure that contracts are favorable to the organisation while maintaining mutually beneficial relationships. Collaborate with legal teams to review, draft, and final agreements.

Lead, build and manage a high-performing Business Development team. Recruit, train, and mentor team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge necessary to meet business objectives. Set clear KPI’s, goals and performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and promote a collaborative work environment.

Represent the SF360 and LGC Assure brand at industry events, conferences, and trade shows. Network with industry professionals, potential partners, and customers to expand the organisation's visibility and foster valuable connections. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Achieve Financial and Non-Financial targets – Meet and exceed financial and non-financial targets and stretching KPIs, ie : Revenue, outbound calls, sales visits, pipeline conversation, CRM entry, lead generations as set by Head of Global Business SF360, LGC Group, and the LGC Assure Commercial Director and stakeholders.

Provide regular up-dates - through submission of timely and accurate reports, ensuring that LGC Assure leadership and all other relevant structures are continuously and accurately informed about matters material to the effective and efficient operation of the business.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, operations, technical and finance, to align Business Development initiatives with broader company objectives. Ensure effective communication and coordination between departments to drive business growth.


Qualifications


The job holder will be able to demonstrate the following skills and relevant experience:

  • At least 5 years proven leadership experience in roles with international teams.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Good understanding of the food certification and SAAS sector is essential.
  • To have held a senior leadership role with high levels of customer engagement and new Business Development.
  • Good understanding & appreciation of the testing, inspection and certification industry as it relates to food and near-food production supply and retail.
  • Excellent problem solving, conflict resolution and consensus building skills.
  • Keenly attentive to detail
  • Vision: sees beyond the present, anticipates future results, and then verbalises the vision and leads the revenue operations function in this direction

Person Specification

The Head of Global Business Development and Sales SF360 will be a self-starter with the ability to perform both individually and within a team environment. They will be able to act as both a strategic thinker, and an implementer as well able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong organisational, administration and time management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain both internal and external relationships.
  • Discreet and able to maintain absolute confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate experience delivering change and business transformation.
  • Conscientious and hard working with a positive attitude.
  • Trusted and proactive leadership qualities, supporting teams and the Commercial Director in driving a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Excellent IT skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, IFS, Microsoft Teams, Visio, mail/mail merge applications, SharePoint packages.
