Britten Pears Arts is a pioneering music, arts and heritage charity based on the Suffolk coast.
Our founders' vision, that music should be useful and enhance lives, inspires all our activities: our work with local and marginalised communities through to our national leadership roles in the fields of talent development and music for health & wellbeing. The jewel in our year-round performance programme is the internationally acclaimed annual Aldeburgh Festival, celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2024.
The Development Team raises over a third of our annual revenue - £2m annually, more than 50% is contributed by individuals.
A key part of this role will be to help to grow individual and corporate giving at all levels for the charity, across both revenue and capital income. As well as having responsibility for increasing individual giving and implementing robust processes for cultivation and stewardship, the role also leads, motivates and develop a small team who focus on income from corporate and membership channels. The Head of Development will also have income targets and will therefore already have experience of delivering major gifts from individuals.
Although this role will include regular travel to London and other parts of the UK, it will be based with the team at Snape.
We will consider candidates who prefer to work 0.8 FTE and some home-working may also be possible.
This role will suit someone who:
- Has a proven track record of personally delivering major gifts from individuals, ideally in an arts or heritage context
- Has previously created and delivered successful strategies for growth
- Demonstrates professionalism and personal credibility in all of their interactions
- Has experience of leading a team, coaching and developing colleagues
- Has strong networking and relationship-building skills
- Can analyse data to inform decision making and strategy
