Hemel Hempstead (Hybrid/Smart Working)

Salary £75,000 - £77,000 Per Annum Plus Benefits

Permanent, Full Time

37 hours per week (Monday – Friday, Flexibility Negotiable)

Thrive Homes has a new and exciting opportunity for a Head of Finance.

As the Head of the Finance function, your primary responsibility is to oversee the daily activities of the finance team and ensure that they provide high-quality services to both internal and external stakeholders. You will also be responsible for meeting all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.

One of your key roles will be to develop and maintain strategies that relate to crucial financial controls and value for money. You shall also be responsible for overseeing the preparation and processes of creating the annual budget, regular financial reporting, financial statements, and the development and maintenance of accounting systems. Additionally, you will be required to substitute for the Executive Director of Finance when necessary.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Finance function to deliver effective and robust financial controls by maintaining the Financial Regulations and Delegated Authorities.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of Financial Accounting including delivery of the annual financial statements for all group entities.
  • Manage the month-end process, including production of the Management Accounts and reconciliations sign off for all group entities.
  • Manage delivery of the budget and quarterly forecast process, including cashflow reporting in conjunction with Treasury.
  • Provide clear, concise financial reports that summarise performance to a range of stakeholders, enabling effective decision making and supporting preparation of Board & Committee reports.
  • Monitor and be responsible for External financial auditing.
  • Lead on Annual External Audit ensuring a clean audit report is achieved with no significant audit management letter points raised for all group entities.
  • Ensuring timely, accurate Regulatory Returns (SDR and FVA) are completed, signed off and submitted in line with guidance.
  • Work in partnership with Treasury and Business Planning to support delivery of strong Group Business Plans.
  • Responsibility for all elements of Thrive’s Tax planning and strategy including Corporation Tax, VAT and charitable reliefs ensuring all returns are filled accurately and within deadline.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience as Head of Finance or similar position.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and accounting.
  • Substantial analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Technical expertise.
  • A formal Accountancy qualification at degree level is important.
  • Effective leadership qualities.
