Location: Leatherhead, Surrey 

Hours: 37.5 (full time)

Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 depending on experience

The role:

These comprise Accounting and Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, IT and Procurement. They work together to focus on making the company and its family of charities work as efficiently and smoothly as possible given its multi-site structure.

The Head of HR is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) with responsibility for regular reporting to the SMT and the Board on people-related matters and strategy. Working closely with SMT colleagues to deliver their group strategy and taking overall responsibility for developing the people plan to implement the company's strategy and the related targets in the annual business & service operational plans.

To provide leadership on the management of all employees, workers, and volunteers, in accordance with the company's values. To develop and manage the HR function on a day-to-day basis to deliver an effective service to the company across all aspects of human resources, learning and development and volunteer management enhancing the employee experience to enhance the companys organisational culture and performance.

To provide senior management oversight of other areas, as required

Main Accountabilities:

  • Support the CEO and SMT on all people-related matters to enable the Group to achieve future performance and sustainability.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategy in collaboration with family companies and the wider organisation and develop a people plan to align with and support the delivery of this strategy.
  • Develop and champion our values and behaviours framework.
  • Ensure the operational people plans align with company values, an inclusive working environment and the well-being of our employees, workers, and volunteers.
  • Ensure there are sufficiently skilled people available to meet current and future service needs through effective brand development, recruitment processes and the development of talent support retention and succession planning.
  • Plan and implement organisational change initiatives to meet their objectives, including re-structures and TUPE.
  • Present reports and discuss items in line with the terms of reference to the People Committee of the Board including the review of people risks and key performance indicators. Use people metrics to influence business decision-making.
  • Review, at least annually, the effectiveness of the companys reward, benefits, and recognition policy, recommending improvements as necessary to support attraction and retention.
  • Review the diversity of talent across the company and consider how we can ensure an inclusive working environment through the development of an Equality Diversity and Inclusion plan.
  • Ensure there are adequate feedback mechanisms in place such as the employee voice group and surveys. Provide feedback on initiatives, lessons learnt and action plans for improvement to reinforce employee engagement.
  • Ensure learning and development is planned to support individual and service performance, including the meeting of service quality and regulation.
  • Provide professional expertise and challenge, ensuring people management complies with regulatory requirements and good practice. Keeping up to date on best practices, employment legislation and statutory guidance.
  • Develop and foster external links for the sharing of good practise and manage all external contractual relationships.

Experience: 

Successful candidate is likely to demonstrate the following:

  • Understanding of a wide range of specialisms including, recruitment, learning & development, employee relations, reward and engagement
  • Up-to-date knowledge of best practices and employment legislation
  • HR systems and processes Development of diversity and inclusion initiatives to support best practise in this area
  • Able to compile and interpret data and make recommendations based on this analysis
  • TUPE
  • Microsoft office, SharePoin
