Our site in Leeds manufactures high quality, functional soft and liquid cheese and our customer base and range of end product applications is growing rapidly. Our highly automated site has benefited from a multi-million-pound investment programme to support our growth agenda, and to remain at the forefront of a highly competitive and fast-moving market.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced H&S Officer to join our team. As a business we have a commitment to driving a proactive H&S culture supporting the implementation of our HSE plan. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager you will have a varied role focusing on ensuring regulatory and process compliance and supporting projects across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported, and provide support to investigation teams in accordance with our policies and procedures.
- Provide accurate and timely daily, weekly, and monthly data for reports which communicate the site’s H&S performance.
- Conduct a detailed safety walk at least once per week and develop the template as part of our continuous improvement programme.
- Review Contractor Competency documentation for compliance.
- Conduct regular reviews of live H&S actions.
- Manage risk assessments.
- Chair the monthly H&S meeting, produce meeting notes, and distribute.
- Liaise between training providers and line managers to organise external H&S training.
- Deliver site inductions to new starters.
- Conduct manual handling, Personal Risk and COSHH plus PUWER assessments.
- Maintain the training matrix at each site.
- Conduct internal H&S audits.
- Manage hazard observation reporting on our software platform.
Who are we looking for in our Health and Safety Officer?
- NEBOSH Certificate or higher.
- Significant experience of working within a similar H&S role, within manufacturing/engineering environment.
- Detailed knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and its application in a manufacturing environment.
- Confident, well organised, with a flexible ‘can-do’ attitude, have attention to detail and be a team player who supports and influences others.
