About the vacancy: The UWE Bristol’s Health and Safety Team have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety adviser who is looking to further develop their career in a future-focussed University. The team provides health and safety advice, strategy development, audit, training and support to all Professional Services and Colleges.
The role will take the lead in working to continually improve the University health and safety management system. This will include reviewing, developing and practically implementing policy’s and guidance and maintain a comprehensive annual organisational wide audit and training programme.
This is a front facing campus-based role where you will work closely with the rest of the team in supporting the full range of team work activities and projects. The role will provide a proactive business partnership service to support a selection of Professional Services.
A significant part of the role will involve project planning and actively engaging key stakeholders as the University works towards ISO 45001 certification.

About you: This role will best suit a proactive, highly motivated and well-rounded Health & Safety professional who has excellent communication skills, is able to engage and influence at all levels of an organisation, is customer-focused and able to apply a pragmatic approach to health and safety.
We are looking for someone who has practical experience in developing, improving and maintaining health and safety management systems in a large and complex organisation across a diverse range of health and safety risks.
You will act as the team's lead auditor and should have experience and be qualified to deliver and maintain comprehensive audit and training programmes with the ability to project manage both the development and implementation of management systems.
NEBOSH Diploma qualified and a member of IOSH who is highly organised with the ability to work in a team and with a high level of autonomy using your initiative to complete work objectives to an exacting standard within set timeframes.
A major part of this role is reviewing and developing policy standards, analysing and interpreting data and drafting complex reports, excellent IT skills with experience across, MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel to expert level is essential.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed.
Given the nature of this role there will also be requirement to work at Glenside & City Campus at times.
