Framlingham College is a co-educational, independent boarding and day school for pupils aged 3-18.
Reporting into the Senior Operations Manager, and with 2 direct reports, you would be responsible for developing and promoting a positive Health & Safety culture amongst staff and contractors across all school sites. You will oversee the effective and efficient management of all Health & Safety, Fire Safety, and Transport Safety matters. This will include policy implementation, monitoring and inspection, risk assessments, investigation and delivery of training. You will be responsible for the schools' security policy and practice.
You will be expected to maintain key relationships with management and technicians throughout. You will maintain continuous professional development. You will ensure that the College complies with all appropriate regulations including; ISI, KCSIE, EYFS etc as well as providing advice and guidance on any legislation and changes. You will oversee H&S matters in connection with all school trips / excursions, CCF and DofE activities, ad-hoc projects / events as well as the annual maintenance programme and summer lettings. You will maintain all records and provide staff training where required. You will manage the H&S budget. You will also prepare reports, chair meetings, and carry out all additional administration.
Essential requirements for this position include;
- Educated to A Level or Equivalent
- NEBOSH (National Diploma in Occupational H&S) (or willing to work towards)
- NEBOSH (Certificate in Fire Safety) (or willing to work towards)
- Exceptional Customer Service skills
- Ability to think strategically and see ideas to completion
- Knowledge of H&S requirements, laws and legislation
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload to ensure tasks are reliably completed
- Articulate, and decisive with a calm and professional approach
- Good level of IT skills including MS Office
- Proven skills in commercial awareness, stakeholder liaison, project management and team leadership
- Proven experience in a similar role, including leading, motivating, and managing staff
- Experience of delivering H&S training
- Experience of managing and monitoring budgets
- Awareness of safeguarding issues, including a clear commitment to delivering best practice in safeguarding
- Full UK drivers licence and own transport
- Full DBS, or open to undertaking an enhanced DBS check
This is a full time position working Monday-Friday with an immediate start. The working hours are 08:30am-17:00pm, however, due to the nature of the role, some flexibility is required.
