Pertemps has an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated HR Advisor to join their team. The role of HR Advisor has a competitive pay rate of £18.21 Payee (negotiable based on experience). Other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days of holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).
Overview of HR Advisor:
" Coordinate a range of low and high-level meetings, involving senior representatives from partnership agencies, working with a range of chairs to agree on agendas etc.
" To convene, minute and service a range of strategic meetings. To support the Director/Head of Service and/or the chair of the meeting, following up on actions as necessary to ensure effective management of the service.
" Undertake all the HR Advisor functions within the context of the client's needs as requested by the HRBPs and Senior HRBP.
" To research and draft notes, letters and reports for implementation throughout the directorate. Coordinate the collection of material from staff and other sources and the collation of this into documents and reports.
" Lead and respond to queries from the AskHR email inbox in line with the agreed service delivery protocol.
" Provide advice on general and straightforward queries from managers and refer more complex/individual queries to the Senior HR Advisor/ HRBP/Senior HRBP.
" Escalate all ER/ HR intervention points e.g. Discrimination, police involvement, illegal workers, safeguarding issues, dismissal, appeals, gross misconduct, compromise/settlement agreement, employment tribunal claims to the HRBP in the first instance and Senior HRBP as necessary.
" Undertake GLPC job evaluations as directed by the Senior HRBP.
" Participate in internal reviews of live cases and the workload across the ER team and ensure the delivery of quality, consistent advice, and pragmatic solutions.
" Ensure the Council's case management systems, including the e-HR systems (Dynamics, Civica), are updated in a timely and accurate manner in line with best practice and data protection requirements.
" Support equalities in employment and mainstream equalities consideration into all aspects of the work.
The successful candidate needs to have:
" Progress towards CIPD or equivalent professional body or relevant work experience
" Evidence of continuing professional development
" Comprehensive understanding of the principles and application of employment legislation and case law, European directives, best practices, and employment tribunal procedures
" Understanding of risk assessment and management
" Knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues
" Knowledge, awareness and understanding of the public sector, including understanding the key drivers for change
" Ability to analyse and interpret statistical data and produce accurate and meaningful management information
" Ability to build credibility and presence to influence, inspire confidence and respect and develop a network within and outside of the Council
