Day to day tasks include:
Providing first line Technical Support answering support queries via phone and email
Maintaining a high degree of customer service support
Taking ownership of user problems and be proactive in dealing with user issues
Logging all calls on the Councils helpdesk system
Escalating more complex calls to relevant IT Support Engineers
Acquiring and maintaining knowledge of relevant products and support issues to provide technically accurate solutions to users
The ideal candidate will be qualified to H.N.D. level or equivalent in Computing, be studying for a degree in Computing or have completed an appropriate apprenticeship. You will have knowledge of PC hardware, software maintenance and MS Windows. Experience of first line support is desirable but not essential.The preferred candidate should possess strong learning abilities, effective communication skills, and a solid grasp of PC hardware, software maintenance, and MS Windows. While having a recognised ICT qualification and prior experience in first-line support is advantageous, it is not essential.
With a flexible approach to working hours, you will be self-disciplined and be able to work on your own initiative.This is a 37 hour full time, flexible position with an annual salary of £24,648 to £28,182 per annum.
Appointment is usually at the bottom of the salary band with annual increments until the top of the scale is reached. This is a career graded post to encourage career development.
It is desirable that the postholder provides an appropriate means of transport for use in connection with the duties of this post. Recompense for the use of such transport on official business will not exceed the scale for casual car user allowance provided for in the National Agreement.
This job includes duties that may require a substantial amount of physical effort and mobility on a frequent basis .
A flexible approach to working hours, able to work outside normal office hours if necessary, including a requirement to be available for evening meetings
Appointment to this post is subject to satisfactory clearance of a basic disclosure check (Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS)) under the Police Act 1997.
