ABOUT THE ROLE
WE UK are looking for an experienced Corporate Communications Director (maternity cover) to lead and drive forward our Corporate Reputation and Brand Purpose (CRBP) sector and support the team’s growth and delivery of exceptional strategic counsel across our client base -which includes the Forest Stewardship Council and Johson & Johnson. You will be a seasoned agency professional, with an entrepreneurial spirit, keen to help build an emerging sector for the agency both in the UK and globally. You must be comfortable leading a multi-disciplinary function as well as leading new business efforts, collaborating with our global CRBP teams and providing senior counsel. Our small but mighty UK CRBP team offers specific services: Corporate reputation and leadership, Issues and Crisis Management, Policy Advisory, Purpose, Sustainability and ESG Communications, Executive Communications and Employee Engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Client and account management:
- Lead and manage a global pharmaceutical companies sustainability communications programme including media, thought leadership, executive profiling and long-term strategy development.
- Run client accounts to the highest standards, driving strategic and operational direction of accounts and setting a high standard for team members to follow.
- Lead on execution of annual plans for each account, ensuring team members are clear on the direction and objectives of the account and that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined.
- Be the day-to-day source of strategic advice and are responsible for your clients
- New business and organic growth:
- Identify new revenues streams through existing and new contacts.
- Identify, secure and convert new business.
- Proactively identify new marketing and networking opportunities. Develop CRBP IP and marketing initiatives.
- Work with our Tech and Health team, as well as a focus on the Corporate team, to grow existing clients, upselling as appropriate through our integrated corporate offer and expertise.
- Active participation in new business pitches including developing RFI / RFP proposals and formal pitch meetings.
- Commerciality & Operations
- Full responsibility for overall CRBP financial management – forecasting, hours allocation for team members, project & plan budgeting, managing servicing levels.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL…
- Be confident with a proven track-record of providing strategic counsel to senior clients on complex/high profile issues and are adept at spotting industry issues and understanding their business and reputational implications for your client. You will have run communications campaigns both in the UK and globally.
- Strive to achieve the best outcomes for your clients and colleagues, and lead others to do the same. You are a natural team leader and adept at developing motivating, and inspiring junior colleagues on retained, project or new business opportunities. You’ll formally line manage a couple of colleagues.
- Be agile and respond to changing and often random requests for your client base. You thrive on variety and know that while plans need to be in place, they can and do change. You are an all-rounder, and happy to flex between strategy, creative and applying a sound instinct for issues and risk mitigation.
- Have a proven Corporate and business media strategy track record, with solid editorial relationships, deep expertise in UK media and knowledge of the international and EMEA media landscapes. Have a head for a great earned story, and know how to cut through, but are equally comfortable creating content and campaigns that reach audiences through digital and direct engagement.
- Have an international mindset and experience of leading situations across borders and working with teams across the world.
- Be a strong presenter who develops impactful presentations through simple and creative storytelling.
