Job description

Site Name: UK - Hertfordshire - Stevenage
Posted Date: Mar 13 2024

GSK is looking for exceptional Spatial Biology scientists to develop multiplex spatial immuno-assays, to be based in the Bioimaging group at our R&D site in Stevenage, UK.

This exciting role provides a rare opportunity for the applicant to develop highly desirable skill sets in spatial multiplex assays. The role requires advanced histology, imaging and data analysis expertise, which the successful candidate will combine in order to design and implement novel multiplexed spatial biology assays, aiming to provide molecular phenotyping of tissues with spatial context.

In particular, the role will be focused on using cutting edge technologies that bridge imaging and omics domains to enable high-resolution, highly multiplexed localization and quantitation of targeted RNA and protein panels at single cell level or better. The data delivered by these assays will contribute to key decision-making points in projects across GSK’s portfolio from target validation to late-stage assets.

The role will additionally involve providing expert scientific input to colleagues in related imaging and genomics teams to achieve the best experimental designs for proposed projects and maximize the delivery of decision-making data obtained from critical samples, accelerating the path to effective and safe drugs that help patients to do more, feel better, and live longer.

Depending on the experience of the successful candidate, the role may be offered as a Senior Scientist or Investigator position.

Bioimaging at GSK

At our world class scientific hub in Hertfordshire, UK, our Bioimaging department brings together key areas of in-vivo and ex-vivo imaging combined with histology to understand both disease state and interventional drugs, combining data on drug distribution with the effect that the drug has on intact biological systems.

As well as using existing modalities we keep aware of developing technologies and analytics through an extensive internal and external network. We work closely with other Bioimaging teams, making use of expert resources available across R&D including pathologists, AI scientists, data analysts and biology specialists.

This role will provide key capabilities to the team, combining the precision of probe-based assays, the context of imaging and the scale of omics technologies to provide powerful statistically robust insights into biological processes and the effect of interventional drugs.

We create a place where people can grow, be their best, be safe, and feel welcome, valued and included. We offer a competitive salary, an annual bonus based on company performance, healthcare and wellbeing programmes, pension plan membership, and shares and savings programme.

We embrace modern work practises; our Performance with Choice programme offers a hybrid working model, empowering you to find the optimal balance between remote and in-office work.
