Main Duties
Social Media
– Create compelling original content for Instagram, Facebook, Google and other media platforms
– Post engaging Instagram stories relevant to the collection and Glenn Brown
– Utilise Social Media strategies to increase the collection’s online presence and footfall at the museum
– Research and pitch innovative content ideas that align with Glenn Brown and the collection’s spirit
Press
– Create press clippings
– Find museum mentions and coverage online and in print publications (using Google Alerts, etc), then flagging these with the Collection Manager
– Posting books or other packages as necessary to external PR clients & journalists
– Assist when needed at press previews, curator tours/talks, and other related events
– Researching publications for possible future profile/feature/review opportunities
Photo Tasks
– Resize, manipulate and prepare images for the website and database
– Assist with image editing and creation of renderings
– Updating artwork records with incoming imagery
Archive/Library
– Support the maintenance and inventory of the library and archive
– Assist with the research of reference/source material related to artworks
Day to Day
– Greeting visitors and providing a verbal walkthrough Glenn’s artistic practice and the museum exhibition
– Assist in installation i.e. carefully handling artwork, painting walls, assist the Collection Manager in creating exhibition lists/brochures
– Support the Collection Manager in conducting condition reports and document any changes or damages to artworks during the handling process
Please note that there are general/ad hoc intern tasks included in the role.
Requirements
– Bachelor’s Degree in the Arts, Humanities or equivalent to apply
– Demonstrable passion for museums, art and culture
– A keen eye for design aesthetics and the ability to think visually
– Familiarity with Social Media platforms and a flair for engaging storytelling
– Flexibility, attention to detail and a desire to learn are essential
– Proof of right to work in the UK
Skills and Abilities
– Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous, but not necessary
– Proficiency in other languages is advantageous, but not necessary

The Brown Collection is offering a paid internship for a highly motivated Museum & Social Media Assistant to join our museum in Marylebone, London.
The successful candidate should be personable, organised and responsible, with a strong interest in gaining experience in the daily operations of a contemporary art museum.
