This accountancy Practice a long established firm of accountants based in Bedford and currently have a permanent bookkeeper/VAT role available.
Job Description
Responsibilities for this Bookkeeper opportunity based in Bedford:
- Bookkeeping using Xero/QuickBooks/Sage/Dext.
- Preparing and reviewing VAT Returns.
- Preparation of accounts up to the Trial Balance.
- Monthly/quarterly control account and bank reconciliation.
- Reviewing work and providing training where necessary.
- Liaising with the payroll department to reconcile CIS submissions.
- Implementing new accounting procedures where appropriate.
- Overseeing and managing workflow.
- Assisting clients with bookkeeping queries.
The Successful Applicant
As the ideal candidate for this Bookkeeper opportniy you will:
Essential
- Two years experience in a similar role.
- Excellent working knowledge of Xero/QuickBooks/Sage/Dext.
- Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Demonstrate experience of working in an administrative environment and working with computerised data systems.
- Be a clear communicator with excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with staff and clients.
- Show an ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative unsupervised
- Be able to maintain confidentiality and trust.
Desirable (but training can be provided to the right candidate)
- Demonstrate an awareness of CIS scheme.

The role is offered with 30 hours per week, ideally over 5 days, although flexibility may be available to the right candidate. The firm does offer both hybrid and flexible working policies and is in a town centre location with car parking available..
