Academic Appointments are supporting a local Primary, SEMH Provision to recruit Teaching Assistants on a temporary basis, with a view to been permanent for the right candidates - this setting supports pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2 with social, emotional and mental health needs with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be given an opportunity to make a positive impact on some of the most at-risk students in the area and to provide 1:1 support for a child to progress to the next stages of their education.
A successful candidate would:
- Have experience in an educational setting either in mainstream schools or any other alternative provision.
- A history of working with students with challenging behaviour.
- A confident, caring, and assertive personality
What to expect?
- Working in this setting requires patience, confidence, and a caring attitude as the student has complex social, emotional, and mental health issues which need to be managed.
- The student has difficulties in displaying these emotions in a productive way so the use of Team Teach positive behaviour management strategies may be needed.
- The student will require positive re enforcement from you when they display good behaviours.

What we need from you:
- 2x references.
- A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate or be willing to obtain one (we can assist with this part).
- Team teach Positive behaviour management certificate preferred but not essential.
