Public Health Programme Manager (Mental Health and Wellbeing)
12 month fixed term contract (with possibility of additional 6 month extension)
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to improving the Health and Wellbeing of people and reduce health inequalities in Tower Hamlets, working as part of a team focusing on families, children and adolescents.
We are looking for an experienced and competent person to join our unique team of Public Health Programme Managers working to enable communities to drive change at the local level and embed strategic insight across the Council, to influence positive health outcomes and address health inequalities in Tower Hamlets.
The purpose of this role is to improve the Mental Health and Wellbeing of parents, babies, children and adolescents and reduce health inequalities through the co-design, co-production and implementation of system change. The post holder will contribute to 3 programme areas, Mental Health for children and adolescents, perinatal Mental Health and the quality of parent-infant relationships, and infant feeding practices. The post will lead on agreed projects and programmes and will report to the Programme Lead for Healthy Children and Adolescents, with a dotted line to the Programme Lead for Maternity and Early Years, and may deputise for the Programme Leads where required.
You will deliver a programme of work targets at enabling the following aspirations:

- Positive health habits built into daily life e.g. health eating, regular physical activity
- Freedom from behaviours harmful to health e.g. relating to tobacco, alcohol, drugs, risky sex
- Freedom from abuse or neglect

- Life skills to manage their personal Health and their roles as parents, carers and citizens
Key Responsibilities
As an experienced Public Health professional, you will help drive the healthy young adult’s programmes by employing a diverse skill set that includes:
- Logic modelling around outcomes
- Insight and intelligence
- Strategy, and partnership, public, community engagement, planning and communications
- Commissioning and delivery
- Evaluation, innovation and research
- Developing Public Health skills and leadership
- Management of budgets and resources
You will report to the Programme Lead of the relevant programme and will assist on all aspects of the life course segment activity, taking the lead for specific programme areas as agreed. The post holder will deputise for the Programme Lead where required.
Requirements
You will need to hold a masters level qualification in Public Health or related subject or equivalent experience, have a strong commitment to Public Health principles and significant experience of Public Health practice.
Additional Information
You are likely to be requested to be available for occasional evening and weekend meetings, subject to the requirements of the work programme.
