Pupil Support Officer – Attendance and Family Engagement

Salary: £26,788 - £30,751 (Pro rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Monday – Thursday 08:30 – 15:25, Friday 08:30 – 12:50

Leith Academy is recruiting a Pupil Support Officer (PSO) to support young people with their engagement with school and to support / build relationships with their families. We hope to appoint a PSO who will help us to bridge the gap between school and home.
Experienced PSAs or those who can demonstrate experience of working with children and their families, are encouraged to apply.
The post will involve building relationships of trust with children and their families and may involve support in family homes. The PSO will be part of the Pupil Support Team and our external agencies support, including our Educational Welfare Officer. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
