Reed Education are working with a special school in Surrey who are seeking a dedicated School Administrator to join their team at a vibrant educational setting in Effingham, Surrey. The successful candidate will work alongside the School Business Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the school, providing support to staff, students, and parents. This role is ideal for someone with a strong administrative background, preferably within an educational setting.
Day-to-day of the role:- Serve as a point of contact for enquiries and referrals, while the administration for new pupils will be handled by the Pupil Administrator.
- Coordinate with the Pupil Administrator to liaise with parents, staff, and external agencies regarding pupil-related meetings and visits, including arranging Review Meetings.
- Work with the Designated Person for Child Protection on any pupil welfare concerns.
- Maintain the school's information system with up-to-date pupil and family details.
- Keep attendance registers current and follow up on any unexplained absences.
- Perform general administrative tasks, including typing correspondence and documents as requested by staff.
- Monitor school emails, forwarding and responding as appropriate.
- Manage reception and telephone duties, ensuring visitor procedures are followed.
- Receive and check deliveries, informing the Finance Assistant of goods received.
- Manage Soldo card receipts and ensure they are scanned and filed promptly.
Please note that duties will vary, and flexibility to contribute to the overall aims of the school is required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good level of literacy and numeracy, with at least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) above grade C including English and Maths.
- Proven experience in an administrative role within HR or finance, preferably in a school setting.
- Computer literacy - proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and the ability to learn new databases.
- Accurate typing skills, with touch typing being desirable.
- Organised with good time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
- Discretion, confidentiality, and reliability are essential.
- Experience with SEN children/young adults is desirable.
- Competitive hourly rate with an annual salary equivalent of £22,781.69 - £24,657.83.
