VisionFR is excited to be working with a leading, award winning accountancy practice to help them find a Senior Accountant to join the team. This is a great opportunity for a qualified or nearly-qualified accountant wanting to work within a firm that provides outsourced finance capability to the media, marketing and creative services sector.
As Senior Accountant you will assist the Client Manager with accounting services for a range of clients. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the more technical aspects of client delivery as well as being the secondary point of contact for the client portfolio. The role includes assisting with the supervision and training of junior team members.
Senior Accountant Key Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management
- Communicate proactively with clients to understand their needs
- Articulate the value of our services to clients and prospects
- Monitor the level of service to ensure it meets clients' expectations
Supports Client Manager
- Complete tasks associated with strategic company deliverables as assigned
- Review and manage bookkeeping function (inclusive of VAT returns)
- Review of simple Self-Assessment Tax Returns
- Preparation of limited company accounts
- Review client payment runs and action
- Preparation of corporation tax returns
- Preparation of management accounts for clients
- Preparation of budgets and forecasts for review
- Prepare client cashflow forecasts
- Prepare client health checks
- Attend client meetings
- Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients
- Train clients on Xero and Dext and other relevant apps
Workflow management and job budgets
- Understand and monitor the company workflows and expectations
- Deal with client challenges and roadblocks promptly
- Monitor the accuracy of work completed
- Achieve filing due dates
- Seek to continuously improve processes and procedures
Service and business development
- Identify opportunities for additional services the firm can offer
- Seek new business through referrals
- Develop external networks and referral relationships
- Write blogs for the company website
Team leadership and development
- Communicate expectations and job requirements clearly
- Delegate effectively
- Review and feedback on the work of junior team members.
- Engage in ongoing professional development
Senior Accountant Key Attributes Required
- CA / ACA / ACCA qualified or working towards completion.
- At least 3+ years of practice experience
- Excellent Xero experience or certification
- Analytical, problem-solving, planning and organisational skills
- Taking ownership and responsibility
- Highly effective relationship management skills
- Ability to understand and use systems, processes and technologies
- Adherence to internal procedures
- Prepare financial accounts with a high degree of accuracy
- Manage workload and establish priorities, identifying any issues
- Good understanding of accounting principles and GAAP, including FRS 102, Month-end process and journals.
- Knowledge of Self Assessment Tax return sufficient to train junior team members.
- VAT knowledge sufficient to train junior team members
