Our client based in the Birmingham area is looking for a Senior Buyer to join their growing team. The successful candidate should have proven experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and well as fantastic relationship building.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring on time delivery of all incoming goods to the business
• Managing variable demand working closely with the sales function to ensure availability.
• Managing lead time
• Maintaining and developing relationships with suppliers
• Generation of department KPIs, monitoring trends and maintaining the levels required to support the business needs.
• Responsible for all inbound freight whilst ensuring competitive and reliable schedules are secured.
• Supporting the Purchasing Manager to ensure strategic product category targets are delivered.
• Following market trends relating to the businesses strategic commodities
• Awarding of contracts relating to indirect goods or services.

Skills & Qualifications

• A minimum of 5+ years working in a purchasing role
• CIPS qualified or working towards achieving
• Experience using MRP systems is required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong time management skills
• Experience of dealing with suppliers globally
• Experience of dealing with freight forwarders
• Ability to multitask in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Proficient in Excel with strong mathematical skills
• Good problem solver
