The post of Senior Data Analyst (Insight and Analysis) in the Planning and Performance Department is an exciting management grade position in the new Data Insight and Analysis team within PPD. Your investigations and problem solutions will enable you to advise on strategy and actions to improve BCU student performance and experience, and to ensure BCU is well-placed in the data-driven regulatory and competitive environment of Higher Education. You will have a particularly strong role in advising on the driving up performance metrics of the University - through League Tables and in regulatory frameworks. You will be working closely with senior executives at BCU, academic staff in individual Faculties and with strategy and data colleagues across a range of professional service areas. The Planning and Performance Department is a small, friendly team where you will be supported with development opportunities. We deliver contextualised business insights to support academic quality assurance and enhancement, institutional strategic decision-making, business planning and continuous improvement. We work with colleagues across the University to support senior leaders in making well-informed and evidence-led decisions. Our remit includes horizon scanning and interpreting policy developments. We ensure that the University meets statutory and regulatory reporting requirements and provide guidance on compliance with conditions of registration with the Office for Students. The role of Senior Data Analyst (Insight and Analysis) is suited to an ambitious data professional with Higher Education experience, seeking their next important step in their career into management, data synthesis and insight, and wanting to be able to directly influence institutional strategy. Using your excellent analytical skills, as well as learning rapidly on the job in a fast-moving environment, the role of the Senior Data Analyst (Insight and Analysis) will include: Developing Key Performance Indicators for senior management and Governors Reporting and Analysis of key national and internal datasets, including evaluative data, trend analysis, statutory reporting and recommendations for action Reporting and Analysis of surveys, including pointers for action Analysing League Table performance – and drive forward improvements Dashboard and visualisation design Developing new BI solutions Contributing to the BCU Data Strategy Design and deliver enhancement projects Working independently with a wide range of colleagues across the University Requirements for the post include (among other things) good technical data skills, knowledge of the HE statutory requirements, experience of working collegiately across departments, great organisational skills, and above all, curiosity and tenacity.
