Senior Event & Groups Travel Manager Role Overview
As Senior Event & Groups Travel Manager, you will have a diverse and varied role. Ultimately you will be responsible, independently and as part of a team, for the successful delivery of event and group travel across key clients. This role is hands-on and includes a wide variety of opportunities for individual growth and development.
This role, in a fast passed environment, will require you to manage project proposals, large-scale budgets, flight bookings, room blocks, group ground transport, as well as client onboarding and driving the enhancement of technology and processes to improve efficiencies.
You will work closely with the Event Team on multiple projects ranging form 50-person offsites to conferences attended by 1000+ delegates, delivering the highest level of travel services to ensure the successful delivery of an overall project.
Senior Event & Groups Travel Skills and Knowledge
- Ideally a minimum of 5 years travel industry experience, preferably within Group/Event Travel.
- Experience processing and managing large group bookings - including group flights, hotels and ground transportation.
- Strong industry knowledge with an understanding of airfares, contracted fares, ticketing and hotel reservations.
- Proven knowledge of a GDS is a must (Ideally Galileo/Smartpoint).
- Extensive experience in event travel project management from proposal to completion.
- In depth knowledge and understanding of project budgeting and budget management.
- Experience using event registration platforms.
- Financial reporting in relation to event and group travel projects.
- Knowledge of travel mid/back office systems (ideally Protas but not essential)
- Experience creating and managing event travel proposals, internally and externally.
- Strong client account management in an Event Travel environment.
- Knowledge of using an Online Booking Tool is a bonus, but not essential.
- Supporting the development and growth of junior members of the team.
