About the role:
Reporting to the Head of HR, you will assist with the day-to-day delivery of the Trust's HR function, providing a quality HR service and administrative support. As Senior HR & Payroll Officer you will process the inhouse payroll and will take the lead with learning and development administration, including course allocation and record management. Other duties will include supporting / note taking in HR related meetings and the organisation and delivery of staff social activities, as required.
This is a part time role of 30 hours per week which can be split over 4 or 5 days. You will be based on site at Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes (MK3 6EB).
Hours of work will be undertaken between the normal business hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm. The ability to flex working hours to accommodate some ad hoc evening / weekend working to support with socials / wellbeing initiatives, is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide high quality HR administrative support and guidance in line with Trust policy and employment legislation.
- To work in partnership with managers and the HR team, to ensure the timely completion of HR documentation including contract administration, starters and leaver documentation and changes.
- To support with staff and volunteer recruitment, including the production of job descriptions, advertisements and publication via the appropriate channels and the organisation of interviews and volunteer taster days, supporting as required.
- To complete DBS checks for both new employees / volunteers and renewals, in line with the Trust's Safeguarding Policy.
- Responsible for the processing of the monthly payroll, including meeting monthly deadlines, accurate recording of payroll runs, generating journal information and posting on to the accounts system.
- To process pension data and upload schedules to the relevant online portal in a timely manner.
- To accurately record, monitor and report on absence in line with the Trust's policy, liaising with third party benefit providers as required.
- To take the lead with learning and development administration, including record management and maintenance of the e-learning system.
- To support with the organisation of induction and H&S Meetings for staff, volunteers, and those returning from long term absence.
- To conduct exit interviews, producing monthly data for analysis.
About you:
- The successful candidate will have previous experience within the HR function in a similar role.
- They will have a good understanding of payroll processing, strong administration skills and be IT proficient, with confidence in using HR and time management systems. Knowledge of payroll (Sage 50 Payroll) and applicant tracking software would be an advantage.
- Approachable and hardworking, they will be a team player willing to support with tasks as and when needed. They will also be confident in handling information confidentially and be able to work with discretion, tact, and integrity.
- A CIPD / HR qualification would be beneficial for this role, however we would also welcome applications with the relevant work-based experience with an interest in undertaking a HR qualification.
