We are seeking an experienced Family Law Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience to join our client's specialist Family team based at their offices in Bury, Greater Manchester
This role is available due to the planned retirement of one of the Partners and is a fantastic opportunity to join a strong team with a longstanding reputation and benefiting from repeat clients and recommendations.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Partner and Head of the Family Department and will play a key role in the transition of caseload.
Responsibilities:
Caseload Inheritance:
- Inherit and manage an ongoing caseload primarily focused on finances on divorce/separation and private law Children Act work.
- Handle cases involving Part 25 procedures, pensions, forensic accountants, surveyor instructions, and Private Ancillary Gardens (PAG).
Specialist Expertise:
- Ideally, possess Resolution Accreditation as a specialist in Finances on Divorce and Private Law Children work.
- Demonstrate expertise in making applications under Sch 1 Children Act, with knowledge of relevant procedures.
Commercial Awareness:
- Manage billing, recovery, and targets in a commercially aware manner.
- Work efficiently to meet deadlines and targets.
- Marketing and Business Development:
- Actively participate in marketing events and initiatives organized by the Business Development Manager.
- Contribute to the ongoing reputation and client base of the team.
Legal Procedures and Advocacy:
- Conduct advocacy at FDA, FDRs, interim applications, and more straightforward final hearings.
- Brief and attend conferences, as well as briefing Counsel when necessary.
- Document Drafting:
- Draft various legal documents, including pleadings, directions/final orders, ES1, ES2, statements of issues, case summaries/position statements, skeleton arguments, witness statements of truth/affidavits.
Expertise in Family Law Areas:
- Finances on Divorce/Separation: S31 variation applications, Legal Costs Orders under S22ZA, disclosure requirements, divorce procedures.
- Sch 1 Children Act: Applications and procedural knowledge.
- Separation: Disclosure requirements, separation agreements, living together agreements, TOLATA experience is an advantage.
- Private Law Children Act: Procedure, pre-application requirements/negotiation, advocacy at FHDRA, DRA, child relocation applications, urgent applications.
- Family Law Act Injunctions: Making and defending non-molestation orders, occupation orders, drafting applications/orders/undertakings, advocacy on interim applications.

Salary Range:
- GBP40,000 - GBP45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
