The Widening Participation team are seeking a colleague who is passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion and improving meaningful Student Engagement in Higher Education for a wide and diverse group of students. The ERP Officer will work collaboratively with a small dedicated WP team and a wider team of committed professionals from across the University to plan, deliver and evaluate projects and initiatives which use research-informed practice to improve the student experience and increase engagement in academic and enrichment activities. Because Engagement and attendance are fundamental to continuation and achieving successful outcomes, your work will be focused on supporting the design and delivery of our Access and Participation Plan, Teaching and Learning Strategy, and updated Retention Strategy.This will mean working on a variety of projects, which may include initiatives to support commuter students, care experienced and estranged students, students with a declared disability, mature students, students formerly eligible for free school meals, students with refugee status, students from traveller communities, Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnicity students, & students from geographical areas were few people go to University. This might also include work relating to Leave of Absence, wellbeing, peer mentoring, and monitoring students at risk of withdrawal or underachievement, amongst others. The Officer will build strong relationships with relevant academic staff, the St Mary’s Student Union, Student Services, Sport St Mary’s, and Registry colleagues in recognition of the fact that Student Engagement and Retention is the result of a complex interplay between many elements of the university experience.It is expected that a diverse range of students are also directly engaged on the planning, delivery and evaluation of projects, wherever possible, to ensure that projects are authentic and student-focused at all times. You will also work proactively within the team’s model of robust assessment, evaluation and tracking in order to monitor, further develop and celebrate the impact and outcomes of our work.
