We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in SEN/SEMH schools. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in managing SEMH needs or challenging behavioural needs, gained from similar educational settings or relevant sectors such as care homes, police, or the military.
Day to Day of the Role:- Provide tailored support to pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Work closely with teachers to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Utilise de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
- Assist with the development of social skills and emotional resilience in pupils.
- Monitor and report on the progress of students, both academically and socially.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as educational psychologists, to support student needs.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your understanding of SEMH.
- Proven experience in supporting individuals with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
- Background in education, care homes, police, army, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of the strategies required to manage challenging behaviours effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing needs.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
