How you'll make a difference
At South Gloucestershire Council we are immensely proud of the skills, abilities and compassion of all our social workers and wider team members – demonstrated even more so during the pandemic. As a Team Manager you will provide support, recognition, guidance, and professional oversight to team members within your practice area.
What will you be doing?
The Locality model promotes collaborative working with our Early Help, Health and Education colleagues and our Locality teams are based within 3 communities across South Gloucestershire – Patchway (North), Yate (Central) and Kingswood (South).
In localities, Social Workers and Managers get to know their children, young people, and families, along with the communities within which they live, and the partner agencies that are also able to offer support and intervention.
Our approach to working with children, young people and families is strengths based. As a Team Manager in Locality Services, you will:
- support our Social Workers to build relationships, undertake assessments, develop plans and deliver purposeful evidence-based interventions to secure the best outcomes for children in need of support, protection and care
- be an adaptive and responsive manager, combining a hybrid model of remote and office-based working with face-to-face management (where essential and secure) to meet team and wider service objectives,
- maintain a focus on the individuals in your team, promoting personal and professional development through the pathways and programmes offered by our Children’s Services
- have the support, guidance and supervision of an experienced and accessible senior leadership team
What we need from you
- You will be a qualified social worker and have relevant post qualifying experience of statutory social work including work with children in need, those subject to Child Protection plans and intervention through the Public Law Outline.
- You will be registered with Social Work England.
- You will have managerial and supervisory experience.
- You will be able to evidence your ability to lead teams to achieve optimum performance in delivering excellent social care services for children, young people and families.
- You will have evidence of on-going continuous professional development and a thorough knowledge of current research, legislation and practice relating to children and young people’s services.
