About the Department:
Gibson Green Solutions is a new division, established in 2024 with the goal of assisting companies operating in the maritime sector to lower their environmental footprint, primarily from an emissions perspective. Collaborating across the entire Gibson Group, the Green Solutions team will identify, research and develop investment opportunities which contribute towards reducing the environmental impact of the maritime industry with a specific focus efficiency improvements and lower/zero carbon fuels.
The Green Solutions team will originate commercial, technical and financial investment opportunities, undertaking due diligence before presenting to Gibson's brokers and clients. The purpose of the desk will be to service the ongoing energy transition requirements of our ship owning and chartering customer base.
Summary of Job Role:
The role of the technical expert is undertake detailed technical due diligence of all project concepts and Investment opportunities developed by Gibson Green Solutions. The Technical Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the technology being utilised is technically feasible, conforms with regulatory/class/safety requirements, delivers the required environmental performance and undertake general technical due diligence as required.
The analyst will be required to:
- Contribute towards the development and delivery of Green ShippingInvestment Projects for Gibson's clients.
- Monitor and evaluate all relevant decarbonisation technology, both existing within the market and under development and through regular meetings, discuss these technologies with the Green Solutions team to determine if an project concept can be developed.
- Provide technical expertise on all Green Shipping technology, including new fuel types and technical modifications.
- Manage and develop client/industry relationships. Collaborate/engage with other companies and organisations within the Green Shipping sector with a particular focus on Classification societies, Shipyards/Naval architects, Engine designers and equipment manufacturers, Technology companies, Fuel producers and suppliers, Regulatory bodies (e.g. IMO, MCA).
- Collaborate with Gibson's commercial and financial analysts to develop investment strategies which account for technical realities/limitations, but contribute towards greener shipping.
- Collaborate across the entire Gibson Group, with a specific focus on newbuilding, sale and purchase (S&P) and project brokers.
- Contribute towards professional, high quality investment pitches and deliver to clients/potential investors.
- Represent the Gibson Group at industry Green Shipping events.
- Support the strategic development of the Green Solutions team, including but not limited to the marketing strategy.
