Due to continued success and future business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Buyer to join our team based at our Central head office in Barlborough, Chesterfield.
The Role

Joining our team as a Trainee Buyer, you will support the implementation of the procurement function to meet the region’s business plan and future growth requirements.
The successful candidate will be required to attend college on a day release basis to support on the job training.
Key duties and requirements
You will also be responsible for but not limited to;
Working closely with the site teams and assisting in managing the working partnerships with suppliers to ensure that all contractual terms are met, and orders are placed, managed, and settled as per Group policies and processes.
Ensuring that all relevant plant and material requisitions are processed and delivered in a timely fashion to developments to enable the delivery of the build programme.
Supporting the implementation of all Group policies and processes such that the control and reporting objectives of the region.
Supporting the process of site set ups and following the issue of the site start programmes and timescales.
Assisting stock taking on site when required by the site surveyor.
Authorising and commit expenditure on the COINS system up to the Group approval limit.
Assisting in the production of key status reports and updates on all KPI’s relating to the procurement function.
Ensuring that the company maximises its compliance with Group products, specification, and deals.
complying with responsibilities under the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental responsibility policies.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful as a Trainee Buyer, you will have a keen interest in the commercial/procurement function and willing to study on a day release basis in order to support your on-the-job learning. You will be driven, customer focused and keen to develop your skills and knowledge within the housebuilding field.
Experience of the COINS ERP system is highly desirable, yet not essential as full training will be provided.
An interest in commercial/procurement.
A basic understanding of housebuilding/construction.
Numerical and Literate – a minimum of grade 4 in GCSE Maths & English
Good IT skills.
The ability to work under your own initiative and manage time effectively.
A flexible and adaptable approach to changing requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Be sufficient in decision making and problem solving.
