Amour Recruitment are currently working with a fantastic company who are seeking a Transport Manager to join their team in Fareham, Hampshire . The successful candidate will be responsible for all matters relating to Driver and Fleet compliance and will work closely with the Fleet Management team.
Key Responsibilities:
- A CPC holder with industry specific experience, local knowledge and IT literate
- Experience of channel islands / IOW operations would be advantageous but full training will be given
- Managing 3 class 1 drivers/units and a fleet of 40 trailers, ensuring drivers compliance with driving hours and regulations and maintaining service and mot schedules as well as repairs for all lorries and trailers
- Managing 2 x class 2 vehicles/drivers and local routes
- Overseeing a team of 3 office staff managing full load deliveries and collections within the UK, groupage collections within the Company Network as well as tracking and monitoring the 40 trailers operating over the channel islands route
- Managing and controlling all northbound movements from the channel islands and subsequent deliveries to customers in the UK, and ensuring compliance with customs import procedures through customs clearance dept.
- Ensuring legislative compliance in all areas, including all aspects of Health & Safety and all certification/legislative undertakings are essential elements of the role.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers, both internal and external, to ensure effective operation and quality service.
- Evaluate daily performance of operational functions to ensure they are of the highest standard and capable of future development.
- The role requires the manager to select, train, motivate, appraise to develop and manage personnel to achieve total customer focus which shall lead to increased customer retention of divisional growth.
