We Are Parable are looking for a freelance Youth Outreach Consultant to support the marketing and outreach campaign for the UK release of Cannes-competition title BBanel & Adama, focused specifically on helping the film reach young audiences.
About Banel & Adama
Banel and Adama are fiercely in love. The young couple live in a remote village in northern Senegal and for them, nothing else in the world exists. However, their perfect everlasting love seems on a collision course with their family’s traditions. Adama is pressured to take the position of village chief, but Banel and Adama have different plans – that is until something in the air shifts. A drought strikes and the cattle begin to die, changing everything. Award-winning filmmaker Ramata-Toulaye Sy’s breathtaking and lyrical debut feature follows the fated lovers in their quest to carve a life for themselves beyond the expectations of others. The film premiered in Competition at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, making Sy only the second Black woman in the history of the festival to do so.

About the role
The Youth Outreach Consultant will work closely with We Are Parable’s Marketing Manager and Programming & Audience Manager to advise on the development and roll out of a nationwide grassroots campaign aimed at engaging young audiences with Ramata-Toulaye Sy’s incredible debutBanel & Adama.
Responsibilities
- Research and advise at a top line level, the potentials and opportunities available for the film release to reach young audiences.
- Work with We Are Parable’s Cultural Curators to identify opportunities to engage with young audiences in key regions.
- Research and establish relationships with key stakeholders, organisations and groups that have access to young audiences.
- Suggest and source talent for screenings e.g. speakers, contributors, performers.
- Ad hoc social media marketing and outreach support.
Skills and experience
- Experience of community outreach and grassroots marketing for young audiences is essential. In arts context, preferably for film and/or cinema audiences.
- Confident and knowledgeable of marketing/communications for film.
- Experience and knowledge of popular social media platforms, in particular Instagram and Tik Tok.
- Strong administration and organisational skills.
Location: Remote
Fee: £1000 flat fee
Duration: Based on five to seven days work
Dates: 19 February – 24 March 2024 (heightened activity during week of the release on 15 March)
