Assistant Accountant

Robert Half Cambridge are partnered with a business in Royston in their search for an Assistant Accountant to join their Finance Department.

This role will work alongside the Financial Controller and work closely with all finance team members, providing support and guidance to all as required. The ideal candidate will therefore be flexible and willing individual who possesses excellent communication and relationship building skills.

This role is paying a salary of up to £35,000 depending on experience. Hybrid working can be offered with 3 or 4 days a week being required in the office after the initial onboarding period.

Responsibilities:

• Checking expenses of all companies and provide VAT breakdowns.
• Checking mileage logs to ensure accurate mileage reporting.
• Assisting in preparation of monthly management accounts, including posting accruals and prepayments and trial balance compilation.
• Fixed asset register maintenance, including depreciation and amortisation journal postings.
• Maintaining the capex approval process for all business units.
• Assist with preparation of monthly internal reporting.

Skills and qualifications:

• Have proven experience in a similar role.
• Be IT Literate, including advanced use of Excel and accounting systems.
• The role is open for development and would ideally suit someone who is looking to/already studying for an accountancy qualification/finance graduate or similar.
• Have excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills - ability to develop effective relationships with team members and colleagues across the business
• High attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks without supervision
