We are looking to recruit a DoLS Team Manager to provide line management for the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards team for the City of York Council. This role is key to ensuring we meet our statutory responsibilities under the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Human Rights Act, and other relevant legislation.
The post holder will be responsible for:
Leading and managing Best Interest Assessors and the operational assistant within the DoLS Team.
Providing strong practice leadership alongside effective management of workload and resources to ensure timely completion of assessments and management of risk.
Ensuring that all referrals received by the DoLS Team are effectively and appropriately dealt with within the statutory framework and timeframes.
Monitoring and supporting the Head of Service on the development of local DoLS policy and practice across the city to provide a high quality service response for DoLS Service users and their Representatives.
Planning and managing the DoLS Team, DoLS IMCA, RPR and IMCA service budgets.
Developing and maintaining appropriate administrative systems, and collecting, interpreting and reporting statistical data in line with Department of Health requirements.
Contributing to the service area's responsibilities for liaison, consultation and provision of information to individuals and other agencies and ensuring effective and efficient joint working arrangements.
We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable and committed individual to provide leadership and support, and ensure Adult Social Care fulfils its statutory duties.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
