Our client is a profitable, privately owned £40m turnover business operating across the UK motor industry, from a base in Cambridgeshire. A recent management restructuring has created a vacancy for a "hands on" Full time Finance Director to take the business forward as the incumbent will be retiring
The style of the business is very much family orientated and operates with a finance team of 4 within a small head office in Cambridgeshire. Whilst there is an element of hybrid working within the business, its thought that due to the significance of this role to the success of the business, then this role will most likely be 100% office based.
THE CANDIDATE:
The candidate should be a qualified accountant with a minimum of 10 years relevant PQE, ideally working within an environment where self employed operators are part of the normal supply chain.
The candidate must feel comfortable working in a fast moving organisation and be one of a team of five Directors running the business. All the directors are very hands on and there is an expectation that the successful candidate will share this attribute and be happy to undertake a role wider then purely finance due to the small size of the Head office function.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the finance team of 4 and being the lead for all technical finance and Accounts system issues
- Completion of Annual Statutory Accounts in conjunction with Auditors.
- Completion Monthly payroll and being the key point of reference for any payroll queries.
- Reviews of customer margins and operating performance with Regional Directors.
- Completion of Annual Budget together with quarterly revisions.
- Completion of Monthly Accounts, Shareholder and Operational Board packs
- Monitoring of cash flow and the relationship with the Factoring company.
- Bank signatory and the lead point of contact with the Business banking relationships
- Member of Shareholder and Operational Board, covering role of financial conscience
- Attendance and assistance in delivering client presentations for key clients.
- Participation in completing client tenders and advising on pricing strategies
- Responsible for HR, pension schemes, insurances, GDPR, IT and Procurement
- Take company secretarial role in SLT and Board meetings
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience of Board level Finance Director role in similar sized businesses
- Experience of managing and leading a small team
- Experience of working in a hands on culture with a broad remit
- Excellent technical accounting skills, consolidations, tax, audit, etc.
- Strong commercial acumen and strength of character
- Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with 10+ years post-qualification experience.
- Ability to form relationships quickly across all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent communicator with an abundance of initiative.
- Ambition, energy, enthusiasm and drive to succeed.
