Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Balloch, is currently looking to recruit a Finance Planning & Reporting Analyst Lead for a 5 month contract on a rate of £35,122- £42,092 per annum equivalent. This role would be suitable for candidates based in Glasgow, with a hybrid working model in Balloch and a 35 hour week.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of the annual statutory report and accounts for the National Support the in the initial Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports and assist the Finance Manager in the presentation of those results to managers, the Executive, the Board and Board Committees, including commentary and variance analysis.
- Assist in the completion and submission of monthly budget monitoring reports.
- Assist in the preparation of Annual Budget and Reforecast exercises.
- Under the direction of the Finance Manager Act as business partner with budget holders.
- Preparation, profiling and monitoring of budgets (salary budget/ team budgets/ organisational level budgets).
- Input as necessary to financial advice, guidance, and support required by the organisation to support business needs.
- Assist with the documentation of policies, procedures, and controls.
- Support projects to automate and streamline finance operations and reporting process.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as required.
Essential Skills:
- Working knowledge of preparing financial reports and inputs (including those required for IFRA16) for the annual report and accounts.
- Part Qualified Accountant with significant hands-on experience
- Working knowledge of preparing management accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
- Working knowledge of financial systems including nominal ledger coding structures
- Hands on experience of monthly and annual accounting cycles and supporting processes, including Trial Balance, variance analysis and reconciliations.
- Working knowledge of journal preparation including pre-payments and accruals.
- Experience of maintaining and reporting on a fixed asset register.
- Able to interrogate and extract data from finance systems for reporting purposes.
- Experience of manipulating data extracted from accounting systems (or similar) using advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to translate financial information for use by non-finance team colleagues.
- Self-starter, collaborative and flexible worker, and team player
- Articulate with excellent interpersonal skills, including good report-writing skills.
- Ability to work under-pressure to tight externally set deadlines.
- Ability to analyse reports/systems/working practices to identify potential improvements.
- Advanced Excel Skills
- Flexible approach to working.
Desirable Skills:
- Working knowledge of invoice processing from PO to Payment.
- Bank payment processing including use of appropriate software.
- Experience of working within a finance unit in a public sector environment
- Some knowledge and understanding of Scottish Public Finance Manual (SPFM) and Financial Reporting Manual (FReM)
- Experience of working in a small finance team
- Knowledge of financial reporting and accounting requirements of for Non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs)
