We're partnering with a leading institution in performing arts education, to find a dynamic and experienced Head of Finance to join the passionate team on a part time basis. With a rich history spanning decades and a commitment to nurturing talent, the organisation is dedicated to providing exceptional education in all aspects of theatre arts and is vital to the future of British Theatre, TV and film.
As the Head of Finance, you will be overseeing and managing all financial aspects of the organisation. You will support the Director of Finance & Resources in shaping financial strategies, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the long-term financial sustainability and growth.
Responsibilities:
- Working with the DOF to implement financial strategies aligned with the institution's goals and objectives.
- Leading on the annual budgeting process, undertaking modelling and updating the forecast in line with the revised business plan
- Leading on the production of the statutory accounts preparation and year-end audit
- Preparing financial and management information for the executive team
- Preparing cash flow forecasts and managing working capital
- Overseeing month-end close, ensuring balance sheets reconciliation and management accounts are completed in a timely manner
- Managing and mentoring the finance team of two direct reports and one indirect, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability
- Overseeing management of payroll and pensions
- Optimising the newly embedded finance system
- Preparing the annual theatre tax relief calculation and quarterly VAT returns
- Ensuring compliance with financial policies, procedures and controls
Requirements:
- A CCAB accountancy qualification, or the equivalent experience
- Experience managing and developing finance teams
- Familiarity with the performing arts or education sector is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills, financial modelling and excel skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
The role will begin as a one-year FTC, with a good possibility of going permanent. Benefits include an excellent holiday allowance, flexibility on when the hours are worked (the 24 hours can be spread over five days for example) and free tickets to the productions.
