The Social Interest Group (SIG) are pleased to be exclusively partnering with Robertson Bell in our search for a new Head of Finance to join our dynamic team on a permanent basis. SIG is a leading UK charity providing bespoke person-centred health and social care services. Our mission is to empower people by building powerful partnerships and creative solutions that bridge gaps in provision and aid recovery, reablement and resettlement.
Reporting into the Director of Finance and Resources, the Head of Finance will be responsible for the full oversight, management and monitoring of the finance team, ensuring processes and policies are followed to the standards of SIG, our subsidiaries, and stakeholders. The role will require hands-on technical capabilities, to challenge the status quo and the ability to implement new initiatives to further the organisations efficiency.

Services are provided through contracts with Local Authorities and ICB’s.

We provide a wide range of high-quality residential, community, and prison-based services for people who have or are affected by mental health, substance and alcohol abuse, homelessness, trauma, personality disorder and criminal justice.
The role:
- Develop the finance team, ensuring objectives are met and ensuring policies and processes are put in place and utilised across the organisation
- Proactively embed a culture of learning, development and evaluation. Promote a team working dynamic which is supportive and empowering.
- Review annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for the organisation to ensure optimal accuracy and reliability, providing high level analysis of these to the SLT and Board of Trustees.
- Prepare and deliver high quality financial reports and insightful analysis for all levels in the organisation such as budgetary information for projects and funding bids.
- Review and monitor monthly management accounts prepared by the finance team
- Build effective relationships throughout the organisation internally, and externally.
- Preparation of charity SORP compliant annual financial statements and a comprehensive audit file ready for review by auditors
- Prepare bi-weekly cash flows which are reviewed by the Director of Finance & Resources and the Group CEO.
The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified as an Accountant (CCAB or equivalent).
- Experience within a leadership/management role in finance including the development of effective short- and long-term strategies.
- Experience working within an organisation with a similar / relatable business model.
- The ability to manage complex budgets, ensuring value for money.
- Proven ability to interact at Chief Executive/Director/Board Level.
- A proactive nature, with the ability to make decisions and use initiative to provide logical solutions.
- A strong understanding of cashflow management and forecasting.
Please note that this role will officially be based out of our offices in Islington, with opportunities to work from home up to three days per week on offer.
