RSR Justice are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in Birmingham for a Housing Support Worker.
As a Housing Support Worker, you will have a case load of tenants and you will play a pivotal role in their lives, working alongside them to assess risks and needs and to develop person centred support plans which will enable them to make progression towards independence.
This is a full-time, permanent role and offers a salary of £23,400 – £25,350.
UK driving license and access to own vehicle is essential for this role.
Main Duties:
* Visit properties and provide floating support to tenants living in supported accommodation in Birmingham, to develop their skills, confidence, preventing homelessness and successfully moving them on into independent living.
* Provide support to tenants of the highest standard at all times.
* Assist tenants to have an improved quality of life and empower them to make choices.
* Move tenants into their accommodation using own vehicle.
* Assist tenants to achieve their support plan goals by helping with life skills and / or other support needs.
* Create support plans in respect of each tenant through careful observation, assessment and writing up of daily reports – with input from other relevant multi-agencies and / or the team leader accordingly.
* Support tenants to register with local health care services, access opportunities for educational development and other activities such as volunteering or employment.
* Assist and enable tenants to gain or maintain their accommodation and to support them into independent living.
* Report maintenance and repairs needed to be carried out to the Manager.
Essential Requirements:
* Maths and English GCSE grade C or above.
* Experience of working with people in the following settings: youth work, residential or social work, probation / criminal justice, community work, education and training, housing or support work.
* Knowledge of and commitment to E.O.P / Anti Discriminatory Practice.
* Basic understanding of welfare rights and state benefits.
* Computer literate including MS Office and Excel to write reports, send and receive emails, spreadsheets, databases etc.
* Able to assist people with basic numerical calculations e.g. rent payments.
* Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Role is subject to DBS check at the relevant level.
