Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 

Salary: Grade C - £44,250.00 - £47,653.00 

Contract: Full-time, permanent (flexible working considered inc. part time and term time only)

The opportunity

This role will take a lead on partnering with our leadership teams to drive a strong culture of engagement, supporting staff wellbeing and employee voice.  


We are seeking someone who has a background in Business Partnering to be a facilitator of change, effectively working with our leadership teams to develop their skills in managing and developing high performing teams as well as developing reward and development solutions which optimise our people capability in delivering the best possible education to pupils and students.  


The successful candidate will: 

  • Operationally deliver the people first strategy ensuring it supports the academy improvement plans and strategic objectives.  
  • Drive engagement by ensuring completion of the Staff Survey ensuring agreed actions are implemented, there is effective follow up and continued measurement is in place.  
  • Support the Head of People Attraction and Head of Staff Development to manage the development and succession process to ensure there is an effective succession plan and talent pipeline, including management of trainee teachers, graduates and apprentices.  
  • Work with the leadership teams to ensure recruitment plans are in place which meet the needs of the academy both now and in the future.  
  • Ensure leaders have people plans in place to ensure the organisation is fit to meet current and future needs.  
  • Drive the personal development cycle ensuring reviews take place, Personal Development Plans are in place, staff are assessed against relevant professional standards and CPD plans are in place.  
  • Ensure staff performance is managed, support plans are in place where improvement is required. Coaching managers to ensure they understand the importance of quality conversations with their teams and have the skills to conduct them.  
  • Ensure effective grievance, absence management, staff wellbeing, underperformance and disciplinary procedures are managed effectively through our outsourced HR Advisory partner.  
  • Operationally lead the strategic need for change on staff structures and support leaders to build credible business cases including financial analysis, options and recommendations to maximise efficiency and meet improvement plans.  
  • Engage with, and challenge, senior leaders about purpose, principles, process and benefits of change in staffing structures which are linked to the Academy Improvement Plans and future needs.  
  • Lead and advise senior leaders on key consultations with trade unions on a range of people management issues.  

 

Essential 

  • Has a CIPD Human Resources qualification at Level 5 or above. 
  • Has a degree in a relevant professional area and/or similar or equivalent experience. 
  • Has the ability to demonstrate a good understanding of Equality and Diversity law. 
  • Understands relevant employment law, regulations and policy affecting people management practice. 
  • Has experience of supporting managers in all areas of people matters, including recruitment, disciplinary, grievance, absence and sickness casework. 
  • Has experience of dealing with high level people issues and how their management can both positively and negatively impact the trust’s performance and culture. 
  • Has experience of policy making mechanisms at trust, local and national levels particularly as they relate to education delivery.  
  • Has experience of dealing and building effective relationships with trade unions. 
  • Has a commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students and providing equality of opportunity. 
  • A driving license is essential as regular travel around our academies will be required.
