Job Purpose:
Provide an efficient, comprehensive, operational and professional HR service to managers and staff of the YMCA Black Country Group. The post holder will also be responsible for learning and development, delivering training on HR-related issues across the organisation.
The post holder must be able to respect the Christian Ethos of the YMCA and uphold its values.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations
- Case management and advise on the following: disciplinary, grievance investigations, capability and performance management, redundancy, restructures including occupational health referrals, changes to terms & conditions, recruitment, and settlement agreements.
- Minute taking in meetings with employees; supporting ER case work with own independent case work.
- Advise and coach individuals on the application of HR policies, procedures, best practice and employment law to enable delivery of our business strategic objectives.
- Act as the HR representative, supporting managers in formal meetings and panels arranged under relevant policies and procedures. This includes the management of all correspondence for cases.
- Support and advise managers in respect of short-term and long-term sickness absence issues, including attending sickness absence meetings with staff and reviewing sickness statistics to identify trends and problem areas for action.
- Provide support to staff on HR issues as and when required.
- Assist with HR project work, specifically in relation to change management e.g. redundancy, TUPE and restructuring.
- Keep up to date with employment law and advise staff as appropriate.
People HR System
- Ability to extract, manipulate and interpret HR data.
- To coordinate the use and effectiveness of the PeopleHR System across the Group, ensuring that managers and staff are adequately trained in using the system.
- Manage the compilation of Bi-Monthly, quarterly, and annual statistics for Human Resource reporting, including KPIs and HR Metrics.
Employee Upskilling and Support
- Identify training needs and develop effective solutions.
- Support the production of staff training materials in various formats e.g. written, videos etc.
- Deliver an effective and timely Corporate Staff Induction for all new staff and Apprentices.
- Manage a calendar of training events and activities.
- Monitor and assist in the review of regular Performance Development Review (PDRs), ensuring that they are carried out in a timely manner and followed up.
- Ensure any work related/performance issues highlighted in PDRs are addressed and monitored using appropriate policies and procedures.
- Identify future learning needs for staff training and development ensuring these are completed timeously in accordance with individual staff contracts.
Other
- Assist the Executive Head of HR and Ethos Services to ensure that the aims of the organisational HR strategy, are implemented in the designated business area.
- Maintain an effective partnership with the Staff Forum ensuring consultation and communication practices are adopted.
- Analyse exit questionnaires as required to investigate reasons for leaving and feedback any issues of concern to the appropriate manager.
- The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
- The post being eligible to be considered for hybrid working following successful completion of the probationary period.
