This new full-time post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis funded from grant income until 31 March 2025, with the possibility of extension depending on future plans for the Geo-resources cluster. The post is based in the Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) division and will work closely with colleagues in the Camborne School of Mines (CSM) and the Cornish Chamber of Mines and Minerals. The role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus, at local company offices, and occasionally from home. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements. This post can be offered at Impact & Partnership Development Manager (IPDM) or Impact & Partnership Development Officer (IPDO) level. Summary of the roleThis is an exciting opportunity to work with the University of Exeter (Camborne School of Mines) and the Cornish Chamber of Mines and Minerals (CCMM) in a major project to develop the Geo-resources sector in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The numerous exploration and development projects for the critical minerals, lithium, tin and tungsten, and for geothermal energy are a key opportunity for the region. Building on the success of the Deep Digital Cornwall project and its state-of-the-art visualisation suite, this role will concentrate on the Data, Information & Innovation theme of the project. The project is funded by the Shared Prosperity Fund and Cornwall and Isle of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about digital resources and can work with a range of data-types, including especially geospatial data, Topics might well include minerals exploration, minerals safeguarding, virtual reality and/or mobile data platforms to showcase the strengths of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Geo-Resources sector. Coordinating/supporting activities such as feasibility studies, workshops and masterclasses and creating an ‘Information Platform Action Plan’ with CCMM and its Cornwall Mining Alliance members are also important parts of the role.
